Romance Recs for Every Reader

Need a rec? We’ve got you covered! Today we are back with romance recommendations for every reader. Whether you are new to the genre, looking for a recommendation for a friend, or are ready to branch out a bit in your subgenre reading, we have a rec for you!

For the Book Club Sneak Attack

It’s finally your turn to pick the monthly read for your local book club, and you are DYING to choose a romance. But which to choose that won’t make them all run away screaming from the tropes and bananas plot twists based on the back cover copy alone?

We’ve got you.

Grab The Hating Game by Sally Thorne. This is a top-rated romance, slow burn, cartoonish cover, lower on the steam scale AND it embodies so much enemies-to-lovers goodness in an office setting. I found this book to be un-putdownable.

BONUS POINTS: A friend’s (non-romance reading) husband recently read this one and finished saying “I see why you love these books. Which should I read next?” Which is EXACTLY what you want your book club to say.

For the Rom-Com Lover

We all have that friend. They watch all the romcoms on repeat but refuse to read a romance novel. “The covers are cheesy” or “but what would people say” or “I like my books to be a little meatier, you know?”

Yes. We do know and that’s why we read romance—BUT—let’s sneakily recommend The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang to ensnare them. They definitely have already watched Pretty Woman a thousand times already.

So why wouldn’t they read this adorable Pretty Woman style story with a male escort, a super career successful autistic heroine, fantastic family dynamics, and super cute and laugh out loud funny antics? We start with our heroine hiring the hero to teach her how to not be bad at sex. Can you get any more RomCom? I don’t think so.

For the Urban Fantasy Lover

They have devoured Ilona Andrews and Kelley Armstrong and Patricia Briggs. They adore things that go bump in the night. And you know just the series for them.

Guild Hunters by Nalini Singh is a perfect gateway romance. There is action, adventure, near-death experiences—and you can’t forget the angels, vampires, and top-secret missions. This is an absolutely addictive and binge-worthy series that Urban Fantasy lovers will fall head over heels for.

For the Netflix Lover

We all have that person in our lives who is always watching the latest-and-greatest new releases on Netflix. And we have a book for them! In 2021 Netflix (with Shonda Rimes) is releasing Bridgertons based on the historical family sage by Julia Quinn, The Bridgertons.

This eight-book series follows each of the Bridgerton siblings as they find love in Regency England. If ballrooms and clandestine kisses are your jam, you won’t be able to get enough of these books.

For the Football Fans

Are you a football lover? Super sports fan? Never fear—we have a rec for you! Naima Simone is a goddess of all things tension and whoooo boy does she nail it in Scoring With the Wrong Twin.

A football player is looking for a one night stand with a model—but little does he know, it's her twin sister. One night is definitely not enough for these two. The ruse plays on but can this football star and techie heroine make things work when the truth comes out?

Scoring With the Wrong Twin is a touchdown in our books and we cannot get enough!

For the Mythology Lover

Do you have a friend who adores anything mythology related? They’re always looking for the latest retelling of classic Greco-Roman myths? Well—The Kingmaker Chronicles by Amanda Bouchet is going to be their kryptonite.
